Genelia D’Souza, also known as Harini to close friends, was born on 5th August 1987 in England into a Mangalore Catholic family. Her parents are Jennifer and Neil. She has an older brother. In 2003, she started her career with three movies – the Hindi movie Tujhe Meri Kasam; the Tamil movie Boys; the Telugu movie Satyam. She worked opposite Ritesh Deshmukh in Tujhe Meri Kasam, which was a remake of Telugu movie Nuvve Kavali and saw an average response. Genelia’s Boys, on the other hand, which was a hit, as was Satyam.

Indian cinema has begun to be recognized globally. And it's very important for us to make our presence felt at important events such as Cannes. As far as The Last Legion (2007) is concerned, it is a film based on a book [A novel by Valerio Manfredi]. I don't think the character of Meera [her role] is there in the book. I did the film for the new experience and it is for the first time that I was with a complete foreign crew. Working with Ben Kingsley was a great experience. Meera is an Indian in the film and she has great roots and you will identify with her strength. I feel for Indian audiences, and want them to feel pride in what I am doing: I am not doing films just to be there as guest appearances.

Son of well known poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. He has a brother named Ajitabh. He completed his education from Uttar Pradesh and moved to Bombay to find work as a film star, in vain though, as film-makers preferred someone with a fairer skin, and he was not quite fair enough. But they did use one of his other assets - his deep baritone voice - which was used for narration and background commentary. He was successful in being cast in Saat Hindustani. He got his break in Bollywood after a letter of introduction from the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, as he was a friend of her son Rajiv Gandhi. This is how Amitabh made an entry in Bollywood, starting with Zanjeer, co-starred with his future wife-to-be Jaya Bhaduri, and since then there has been no looking back. He married Jaya Bhaduri, an actress in her own rights, he has two kids, Shweta and Abhishek. Shweta has been married, lives a non-filmy life and has a child. Being friends with Rajiv Gandhi, got him to decide to run for seat in the Congress from his hometown but had to leave midterm because of controversies, particularly after Rajiv and he were implicated in the now infamous "Bofors" case along with the U.K. based Hinduja Brothers. After a four year break, he was back in the unsuccessful Mrityudaata (1997), a comeback which the actor wanted to forget. Critics written him off but his career was saved with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998). But four flops in 1999 and incurring debt of over 90 Crores rupees of his sinking company ABCL saw him at an all-time low. To make matters worse, after the defeat of the Congress party, Amitabh lost considerable political support, the opposition made him a target, and his credit rating deteriorated to such an extent that a leading nationalized bank, Canara Bank, sued him for outstanding loans. He did bounce back, presenting the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire called "Kaun Banega Crorepati?" (2000). After a series of hits with Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001) and Baghban (2003) and his most recent Khakee (2004), a 60 plus Bachchan is showing no signs of slowing down and proving the critics wrong once again.His son Abhishek is also an actor by his own rights. The trademark deep baritone voice, the tall, brooding persona, and intense eyes, made Amitabh Bachchan the ideal "Angry Young Man" in the 1970s, thereby changing the face of Hindi cinema. The son of the late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, he was born in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. After completing his education from Sherwood College, Nainital, and Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, he moved to Calcutta to work for shipping firm Shaw and Wallace. Later, he moved to Bombay and struggled for a while to get his foot in the door of the Hindi film industry. The lanky, dark, and intensely brooding persona did not go down well with directors who were looking for wise-cracking, fair, loverboys - the trademark of the Indian hero in the 1960s. Starting with the low key Saat Hindustani, Bachchan struggled through many roles and was relegated at times to doing voice-overs and in one instance playing a deaf-mute (his deep baritone voice might have overshadowed the other actors!). He broke through with Zanjeer (the Chain) in 1973 playing opposite his real-life love interest and future wife Jaya Bhaduri. His persona seemed apt for the 1970s, capturing the resentment of underemployed youth and the increasing cult of violence. Bachchan reworked the image of the Hindi film hero with major hits like Deewar, Sholay, Trishul, Don, Kala Patthar, and Shakti. Adapting former screen idol Dilip Kumar's mannerisms and adding his own flamboyance, he popularized the violent melodrama. He proved that he had an equal flair for tragedies (Deewar, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Shakti) and comedies (Chupke Chupke, Don, Naseeb, Amar Akbar Anthony) as well. His most memorable performance was as the renegade against a harsh society in Deewar. After Amar Akbar Anthony in which he reveled in the role of the Cathlolic bootlegger - he played similar "masala" roles, movies that required action, comedy, tragedy, and romance in one character. This had disastrous consequences later with movies disintegrating into Amitabh variety shows rather than plot-driven stories. Bachchan was dubbed the Superstar, taking over that title from Rajesh Khanna, something he hung on to until the mid 1980s when the floor widened after his temporary departure. At the height of his popularity he was injured in an accident while shooting for the film Coolie - long lines of people prayed for his recovery at the Breach Candy hospital, underscoring his megastar status. He left films in 1985 to become a Member of Parliament from Allahabad constituency as a Congress party candidate, as a favor to his family friend Rajiv Gandhi - the new Prime MInister of India. A report of involvement in financial irregularities (of which he was completely cleared later) made him decide to step down as MP. His return in 1987 was lukewarm as the Hindi film industry had moved on and newer, younger heroes essayed the part of Angry Young Man with more conviction. Bachchan seemed to have lost his heart in making films as his later roles did not show the flicker of passion that had marked earlier efforts in the 1970s. In 1989, for the first time since 1976, three of his films were flops i.e. they could not recover their money (in the Hindi film industry a flop is a film that does not recover a distributor's price, not the producer's cost). A series of lackluster films in the 1990s pointed to a long overdue exit, common to many other stars. A seemingly well-thought out venture to start a production company ABCL landed him in immense debts. Astonishingly, he burst back with a double act: one, playing the stern patriarch (the kind against which he had rebelled in the 1970s but which role was suited to his gravelly voice), and two, reinventing himself as a brand that in turn, could market anything. He began the latter by hosting the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (Kaun Banegaa Crorepati) and is now back in demand for endorsements, advertisements as well as many movie roles. Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad. He is the son of late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan did his schooling from Sherwood College, Nainital and later on pursued a degree in science from the Delhi University. His first job was in Shaw Wallace and later worked as a freight broker for a shipping firm called Bird and Co. But his destiny had something else to offer and it was the journey to stardom. He made his debut in the film Saat Hindustani (1969) which was directed by K.A. Abbas. Film failed on the box-office but Amitabh was noticed by film makers like Hrishikesh Mukherji and Sunil Dutt. Hrishikesh Mukherji (whom Amitabh treat as his Godfather),gave him a role in his two films, Anand and Guddi. Anand was the third film, which became a hit and he got best supporting actor filmfare award. Amitabh was getting the roles but they were not significant. Finally he got a chance to work in "Zanjeer", role for which he was not the first choice. Film turned out to be super-hit. By then a new avatar had emerged on silver screen, an "Angry young man". But this was his one aspect. He was a poet (Kabhi Kabhi), an decent professor (Kasme Vaade), a comedian (Chupke Chupke, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don), a dying lover (Mukaddar Ka Sikander).He did almost all kinds of roles. In 1973, after release of Zanjeer, Amitabh got married with Jaya Bhaduri. He became father at the time of release of Chupke Chupke. During the shooting of "Coolie" on 26th July 1982, he was injured and admitted to Breech Candy hospital. The whole nation prayed for his fast recovery and by the grace of God he was gifted with a new life. Mrs. Indira Gandhi, then P.M. of India, postponed her foreign trip and visited the hospital. After recovery Amitabh returned on silver screen, with Sharabi and Giraftar like hit movies. In the original script of "Coolie" Iqbal (Amitabh) had to die but Teji Bachchan asked Manmohan Desai to change it for her personal reasons. The last scene where he stands in the balcony and thank the people, was the real scene, a way to thank the people of India, "Main to chala gaya tha, laut aaya hoon to bus aapki duaon se...." Amitabh also tried his hand in politics in 1984 after the death of Mrs. Gandhi. He defeated the then called Chankya of the Indian politics, Hemvanti Nandan Bahuguna. But some how things went wrong and he got trapped in the dirty game of politics of anti-Rajiv Gandhi. Although during this period his classics "Main Azad Hoon" and "Agneepath" were released, but Amitabh was getting older. Amitabh decided to take a break in 1992, Khuda Gawah was the last release. He then launched ABCL which was a multi-faceted commercial enterprise. This was the major failure and he was surrounded by unthinkable debt. This is hard to imagine at that time how he survived but again he proved that he is not an ordinary man who live and die. With "Kaun Banega Crorepati" and "Mohabattein" he redefined his position in Indian cinema. Amitabh emerged again as a winner and slapped the critics who declared him "finished". Even in this age roles are written for him. Every film maker is dreaming to cast him in his/her film. He was declared as Star of the Millenium by BBC poll, by Stardust and even at the survey for statue at Madam Tusad. These are not mere coincident! May God bless him.

Growing up
Deepika arrived into the scene on 5th January 1986, in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is the daughter of Ujjala and Prakash Padukone, who was the Badminton Champion. The sports genes runs in her family, for she herself played badminton at state level until 10th grade while her younger sister Anisha has taken to sports on a more professional level, with a strong interest in golf.

Born on December 27, 1965 Salman Khan is the son of the legendary writer Salim Khan, who penned many super-hits in the yesteryear's like Sholay, Deewar, and Don. Salman started his acting carrier in 1988 by doing a supporting role in the movie "Biwi Ho To Aisi". The following year he came up with his leading role in the box office romantic hit Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). From there he became the heart throb of Indian cinema.

Following with other box office hits he showed his terrific performance in Saajan (1991), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Hum Aapke Hain Koun...! (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). His transformations can be sensitive, vulnerable, funny, aggressive and charming as his role demands.

In 1998 he was arrested by the local police from the shooting location of the film Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United (1999), for killing protected wild animals and spent about a week behind the bars. In September 2002, Salman Khan had hit the headlines after he crashed his Land Cruiser near the American Express bakery in Bandra, killing one man and injuring others.

In 2003 he gave his emotionally charged performance as playing an obsessed lover in "Tere Naam" that translated into good reviews and a good run at the box office. His father is U Suryanarayana Raju and mother is Siva Kumari. He is one of three children. His brother is Prabodh and sister is Pragathi. His uncle is the famous actor and politician Krishnam Raju Uppalapati.

Prabhas’ Movies
Prabhas started his movie career with Eeshwar in 2002 about a poor boy falling in love with a rich girl. In 2003, he was seen as the lead in Raghavendra.

Varsham (2004) reversed his fortunes. He was cast opposite Trisha Krishnan. In Krishna Vamsi’s Chakram (2005) he played a cancer patient. Chatrapathi (2005), in which he played a refugee, with Shriya Saran was a huge hit.

Born on 9th August 1974, Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu was born to actor Krishna and in Chennai. He is one of five siblings. He has an older brother Ramesh, two older sisters Padmavathi and Manjula and a younger sister Priyadarshini.

1999 to 2003 Raja Kumaradu was Mahesh’s debut and starred him opposite Preity Zinta. His role as Raja won him the Nandi Best Male Debut. In 2000, he starred in Yuvaraju and Vamsi, in which he shared screen space with Namrata Shirodkar and his father Krishna. Murari in 2001 with Sonali Bendre won him the Nandi Award for Special Jury. He won the award again in 2002 for Takkari Donga with Lisa Ray and Bipasha Basu. Year 2003 was another year for award winning performances with Nandi Award for Best Actor for Nijam and Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award for Okkadu with Bhoomika Chawla.
2004 to 2009 Another Nandi Award for Special Jury went his way for his role in Arjun. The other release in 2004 was Naani. Athadu in 2005 was a money spinner and won him another Nandi Best Actor Award. The 2006 release Pokiri, made around the realty mafia, won him the Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award for his portrayal of Pandu, a thug. Athidi with Amrita Rao released in 2007 was directed by his brother Ramesh Babu. There were no releases in 2008. Mahesh Babu Birthday Celebrations

The week-long birthday celebrations of actor Mahesh Babu commenced today with multitudes of fans performing pujas at the temples statewide, besides doing poor feeding and distribution of fruit to the patients at the hospitals. This assumed significance in the wake of swirling buzz that the young superstar might take up campaigning for the ruling Congress party in the ensuing elections. However, Mahesh said a few months ago that he was not interested in politics. But, Krishna directly said he would campaign for the party. As part of the celebrations, state minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy is expected to participate at a fans programme in Hyderabad.

Mahesh Babu and Trivikram join for 'Varudu'

Singanamala Ramesh is producing a new Mahesh Babu starring 'Varudu' directed by Thrivikram Srinivas, on Kanakarathna Movies banner. According to the close sources the film is based 'Hum Tum' of Hindi of Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. In fact it is said that the hero approached the director to prepare a story after viewing the Hindi hit movie. It is maintained that the film will be full of action and romance. Srinivas hopes as like his earlier hits 'Athadu' and Okkadu this one will also reach and entertain audience. Dr Mohan Babu and Sri Hari will play prominent roles in the film. The producers plan to wind-up the works and release the film for NewYear 2009. However, the heroine and other casts are yet to be decided.

Varudu, the crazy film in the combination of Mahesh and Trivikram Srinivas is going to be launched on August 20th. There has been a simmering curiosity over the film's start in the media in the wake of the young superstar's passing hiatus post Athidi, which got released last year. Fans of Mahesh Babu today performed Sudharshan Yagam in a local temple at Chikkadpalli in Hyderabad. The ritual was said to have been performed seeking the betterment of social conditions. Biography
Namitha was born on May 10, 1980 in Surat, Gujarat, India in a Punjabi family. She is the only daughter in this family, which consists of her father, a businessman while her mother is a homemaker. She has a degree in English Literature.

She first came into the limelight after she was crowned Miss Surat during the year 1998. She went on to participate in the 2001 Miss India pageant and ended up as the fourth runner-up, while Celina Jaitley was crowned Miss India during this event.

Priyanka Chopra was brought up Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. She was the favourite in the family and grew up in the affection and warmth showered on her by her parents, grand parents and other relatives.

Her schooling was in Lucknow and the institutions that she studied were La Martinière Girls College in Lucknow, Maria Goretti College in Bareilly and completed studies in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She wanted to be a Software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist.

Priyanka is a good singer and occasionally writes poetry and short stories. She didn't had much aspiration for modeling or ever dreamed of competing in beauty contests, but her parents, without Priyanka's knowledge, sent photos of her to the Femina Miss India pageant. On competing, Priyanka won the Femina Miss India-World title and an opportunity to represent her country for the Miss World competition.

In the Miss World competition, the judges were so impressed by Priyanka Chopra's performance that they omitted the mistake that she made during the last round and she was adjudged winner of the Miss World 2000 title. She was asked which living woman she admires most, in the finals, and Priyanka replied "Mother Theresa", but at that time Mother Theresa had deceased. But that was the only mistake she made throughout the tough competition.

Even before she won the competition, Priyanka Chopra was very involved in philanthropic activities. She is the only Indian in the USA to have been selected at the state level for the National Opus Honor Choir She did extensive charity work in US and India after winning the title.

After winning the title she was flooded with film offers. Andaaz directed by Raj Kanwar became her debut film. She was pitted against Akshay Kumar. Then Miss Universe Lara Dutta also debuted with Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka won most Promising newcomer for Andaaz from Star Screen and Filmfare. Her Villainous role in Aitraaz won her many awards and accolades. She hasn't had to look back since then. Her Mujhse Shaadi Karogi with Salman Khan was a hit.

Krrish, the film in which Hrithik Roshan plays a super hero, is her biggest movie so far and it is one of the biggest hits of all time for Hindi film industry too. The film fetched her international recognition and currently she is being considered for the Hollywood film Wonder Woman.

King Khan has come a long way from his television debut days. SRK first entered the limelight with his role as 'Abhimanyu' in the tele-serial Fauji, followed by Circus which portrayed the life of circus performers. He made his movie debut in 1992 with Deewana.However in 1993 he shot to stardom with his two successive negative roles as a paranoid lover in Baazigar and Darr. 1995 proved to be a defining year in his career with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, his biggest hit firmly positioned him as the most successful actor. He followed DDLJ with a string of successful love stories, including Pardes and Dil To Pagal Hai, becoming the quintessential romantic hero.Though he is known to share great on screen chemisty with all his heroines, the way he and Kajol light up the screen together has no present day parallel in Indian cinema.

Though some of his movies like Chahat, Duplicate and Dil Se didn't do too well at the box office; it proved to be no dent on his career. Dil Se did not do commercially too well, but the song Chaiya Chaiya proved to be successful for Shahrukh, as the track became a rage.

Then came Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Not only was the movie a colossal hit, it set the course for a long and successful association between Shahrukh Khan and the director of the movie, Karan Johar. Together, the two went on to give bigger hits with Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kal Ho Naa Ho. Today Shahrukh has worked with every big director in the country. From period eponymous roles like that in Asoka to that of a doomed hero with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas, Shahrukh has constantly reinvented himself over the years.

In 2004 Shahrukh was seen romancing Sushmita Sen as Major Ram Prasad Sharma in Main Hoon Na. Towards the end of the year came Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades, where Shahrukh's understated performance as Mohan Bhargava won him a Filmfare in 2005. Taking National repute to another level, Amol Palekar's Paheli, where Shahrukh plays the friendly "ghost' has been picked as the official entry from India for the Oscar's this year. Constantly on his way up, Shahrukh's forthcoming releases include Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Farhan Akhtar's Don and Happy New Year in 2006.

Married to Gauri Khan, they stay in Mumbai with their two children, Aryan and Suhana.

Hrithik Roshan, fondly known as Duggu by his near and dear ones, was born into a filmi family on the 10th of January, 1974. His mother is Pinky Roshan, the daughter of producer and director J.Om Prakash while his father is Rakesh Roshan, who was an actor before turning into a director, besides being the son of music director Roshan. He is the nephew of music director Rajesh Roshan. He also has a sister Sunaina.
Hrithik studied at the Bombay Scottish School, Churchgate and has a degree in commerce from Sydenham College.
Soon after his successful debut in Bollywood, he tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Suzanne Khan, daughter of actor Sanjay Khan and sister of actor Zayed Khan. They have two sons, Hrehaan and Hridhan.
He had his bad moments after stepping into the spotlight. His father was shot by the underworld when he refused to give the foreign rights of Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. It was followed by rumours that the actor had made remarks against Nepalese which resulted in outrage against the actor in Nepal. However the actor denied it.
Hrithik is known to be a perfectionist and has worked very hard to be where he is today. He prepares himself thoroughly for every role he portrays, has trained in dance and acting besides working on his diction and his appearance. He started working out under Salman Khan’s guidance, when he worked as an assistant director on the sets of Karan Arjun and Koyla.
He got a taste of Bollywood as a child, when he appeared in the film Aasha (1980), Aapke Deewane (1980) and Bhagwan Dada (1986). But it was the year 2000 that made people sit up and take note.
A Star Is Born….
2000 Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, a love story directed by his father, in which he starred opposite newcomer Amisha Patel was an exceptional success, winning eight Filmfare awards among countless others, two of which landed with Hrithik for Best Debut and Best Actor. This was followed by Fiza with Karishma Kapoor and Jaya Bacchan, in which his portrayal the terrorist Amaan was appreciated. He played a similar role in Mission Kashmir with Preity Zinta.
2001 Yaadein with Jackie Shroff and Kareena Kapoor wasn’t a big success while Karan Johar’s family drama, the star studded Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham was an instant hit.
2002 The year saw a string of flops like Aap Mujhe Acche Lage, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and Mujhse Dosti Karoge, making people question about whether it was downhill from here.
2003 Hrithik removed all doubts with the science-fiction film Koi Mil Gaya with Preity Zinta, in which he played the role of a mentally abnormal Rohit who befriends an alien called Jadoo. He bagged the Filmfare Best Actor award as well as the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance.
2004 Farhan Akhtar’s Lakshya did moderately well, while Hrithik’s role earned him a nomination for the Filmfare Best Actor award.
2006 He returned back as Rohit alias Krrish in Krrish, the sequel to Koi Mil Gaya, this time with Priyanka Chopra, the movie was a hit and a top earner. This was followed by the action oriented Dhoom 2, the sequel to Dhoom. He played the baddie Mr.A and won another Filmfare Best Actor award.
2008 In Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar, set in the sixteenth century, Hrithik Roshan took over as the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The film did well overseas while in India the response swung both ways.

Although linguistically challenged, Katrina puts on a bold face and states that other Bollywood artists like Sridevi, who did not know Hindi, did get offers from Bollywood film-makers, and she is no different. She is taking Hindi and dancing lessons to fit in with the Bollywood culture. She likes to display a picture of her learning Kathak dancing where she used to dance 7 hours a day non-stop.

Despite her soft gorgeous looks, she is not easily intimidated, but admits that she is very emotional, almost an incurable romantic, wears comfortable non-revealing clothes when at home, hates to do her hair, and above all dislikes make-up. She admitted to being lonely in the beginning, but now she has several nice friends to hang out with.

Although her first movie "Boom" was panned by the critics and shunned by the audiences, two other Telugu movies "Malliswari" and "Pidugu" did get her noticed. She grossed Rs.70 lakhs for Malliswari - making her top the list of the highest paid actresses during a South Indian movie debut.

Not done with South Indian movies, she has been signed in a Tamil movie "Bheema" opposite National Award Winner Vikram.

She's been voted recently as the lady with the most luscious lips in the film industry

She has received good reviews for her part in "Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya", as well as a brief appearance in "Sarrkar".

From 1968 to 1972, NASA's Apollo astronauts tested out new spacecraft and journeyed to uncharted destinations.

It all started on May 25, 1961, when President John F. Kennedy announced the goal of sending astronauts to the moon before the end of the decade. Coming just three weeks after Mercury astronaut Alan Shepard became the first American in space, Kennedy's bold challenge set the nation on a journey unlike any before in human history.

Eight years of hard work by thousands of Americans came to fruition on July 20, 1969, when Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong stepped out of the lunar module and took "one small step" in the Sea of Tranquility, calling it "a giant leap for mankind."

Six of the missions -- Apollos 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 -- went on to land on the moon, studying soil mechanics, meteoroids, seismic, heat flow, lunar ranging, magnetic fields and solar wind. Apollos 7 and 9 tested spacecraft in Earth orbit; Apollo 10 orbited the moon as the dress rehearsal for the first landing. An oxygen tank explosion forced Apollo 13 to scrub its landing, but the "can-do" problem solving of the crew and mission control turned the mission into a "successful failure."

Beboo, as she is fondly called, has a reputation of being a spontaneous actress. Just before the shots, she would be seen fooling around but once the camera is switched on, she transforms to the mood of the character so fast that she has surprising and won accolades from all of her co-stars and directors she has worked with.

Kareena is known for speaking her mind without thinking about its consequences and was misconceived as being arrogant, during her initial stages. For cheap publicity, some actresses would make some crude remarks about her, knowing that she would retort, but with age, she has wised-up.

Kareena's schooling was at Jamnabai Narsee School, Mumbai and then she went to Welham Girl's Boarding School, Dehradun and later Harvard summer school, for a short-term course in microcomputers and information technology. She then took an admission in Government Law College at Churchgate, after completing one year there, she realized that acting is what she want as a career and attended the Kishore Namit Kapoor acting school.

Kareena made an unconventional and rather bold debut along with Abishek Bachachan in J.P Dutta's Refugee (2000). Her performance got her rave reviews and filmmakers started queuing up at her door for her dates. But she then had to put up with a bad phase, when some of her much awaited films like 'Ashoka' and 'Yaadein' didn't do well but still she had more offers coming her way and producers were ready to give double her market price, realizing her potential. Such reaction from producer's part was unheard of in Bollywood, where usually actress of a flop film is sidelined.

Even though she was not the heroine in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', her performance as 'poo' was widely appreciated and the film also did well in box office. Then came 'Chameli', in which she played a prostitute. It fetched her lot of critical acclaim and she didn't had to look back after that. 'Aitraaz' and 'Hulchul' followed which were also successful. Critics as well as the audiences were taken aback by her acting prowess in 'Omkara', and her special dance appearance in 'Don' was also appreciated. She has a lot of prestigious projects coming up like Milenge Milenge with Shahid Kapoor, Bajirao Mastani with Salman Khan, Kismat Talkies with Hrithik Roshan, Lajjo with Aamir Khan directed by Mani Ratnam and Yash Raj's next film.

Kareena Kapoor is all set to lend voice to an animated character 'bitch' in Yash Raj Productions ambitious animated film 'Dogs'. Saif Ali Khan would accompany her in this venture, dubbing for the character 'dog'. It is an interesting combination, even though they are just lending their voice, as both are fabulous comic timing.

Now that such a reputed banner like Yash Raj has set forth to make an animated film, you can be sure that others will follow. It is not that there wasn't any attempt at making such films; in fact, some like 'Hanuman', 'Lord Krishna' and 'Ramayan' have been reasonable success as well, but no top producers were ready to take the plunge.

Last year we saw Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aaryan dubbing for the Hindi version of 'The Incredibles'. Even before that actors like Nana Patekar dubbed for Jungle Book and Amrish Puri for Ravan's character in Ramayan.

Jugal Hansraj, who debuted in Masoom(1983) as child artist and also appeared in some films like Papa Kehte Hai and Mohabbatein, will debut as director in 'Dogs'.

Audrey was born in Forest Grove, Oregon, just outside of Portland. She attended St. Cecilia Elementary School where she developed her love of acting through her 8th grade teacher.

In 2004, Audrey took her first acting class. She went on her first audition a month into class and landed the role. Since then, she has been steadily working as an actress in numerous films and television commercials.

Merchant Of Venice: Finally A Merchant Worth Seeing

As a some what classically trained actor(two years of an academic theatre school) I have always had a thing for Shakespeare. I love his work and have never had the fear that so many people seem to have for the language. Sure some of the allusions and idioms are obscure or their meanings are only relevant to Elizabethan scholars, but a good actor lets the emotion of the words in context convey what is needed for the audience to comprehend the meaning of the words.

Underneath the glamour and the trappings that accompany most productions there are universal truths that speak to all of us. Remember Shakespeare was a popular writer who depended on pleasing his audiences for making a living. An audience who if anything were even less educated then today's, made up of primarily illiterates who would need the stimuli of strong emotion to provide enjoyment. His plays are sexual, violent, full of bawdy humour and plots were dictated by the strong moral code of the time.The tragedies conformed to the tight rule of a hero whose tragic flaw brings about his downfall, the histories to extolling the virtues of the current head under the crown, and the romantic comedies all worked out right in the end.

What has always elevated Shakespeare head and shoulders above the rest was his ability to raise his content above the limitations of the style. Unlike today's sit-com writers who work within a similar format who let stereotypes and manipulation stand in for genuine characters and emotion, his ear for poetry and truth combined to entertain and enlighten the masses whilst never stooping to a lowest common denominator. Royal to peasant were equally comfortable with his work.

Our tendency to view Shakespeare's plays as museum pieces instead of living is the thing that does them the most disservice. We suffered through a long period of staid costume dramas masquerading as performance with only a few notable exceptions. Not until Kenneth Branagh first began producing plays and filming did new life get blown back into Shakespeare for the first time since Peter Brooks interpretations in the early seventies. Aside from Mr. Branagh own productions we have seen a spurt of attempts at Shakespeare, some good, some bad, but at least people were attempting to use film and his plays for more then faithful reproductions of stage shows.

What this has all been leading up to is the recent production of Merchant of Venice starring Al Pachino, Jeremy Iron, Joseph Fiennes and Lynn Collins. The Merchant has moved in and out of fashion over the last forty years because of the potential for stirring up a pot that most people would rather leave alone. Anti Semitism. With the spectre of Mel Gibson's perceived anti Semitic Passion hanging over everyone's heads it takes an especially brave group of people to mount a production of Merchant.

We as a society would like to pretend that anti Semitism does not exist at the same level that it has in previous generations. But with the rise of fundamentalist Christians and the poverty of Eastern Europe we have seen an upswing in anti Jewish sentiment.

Although neither Jew nor Muslim will appreciate this comment it must also be remembered that Arabs are Semitic as well so the Muslim world has become a legitimate outlet for most people's anti- Semitic feelings. Jews and Muslims are particularly sensitive now to anything that is seen as promoting hatred towards their people, justifiably I believe since any promotion of hatred under what ever the guise is putrid.

In one of the interviews included with the D.V.D. of Merchant of Venice Al Pacino mentions that he had been approached many times before about playing the role of Shylock, and that he had always refused for that very reason. He never felt comfortable with the character's depiction as a villain because of its perpetuating of a stereotype.

There have been many apologists for this play, defending it on the grounds that it was just an accurate reflection of the time period of Shakespeare. While this may or may not be true, it did not necessitate some of the extremes taken in the depiction of Shylock villainy or the saintliness of Antonio and Bassino.

When one examines the structures that Shakespeare so rigorously adhered to in the construction of his script, this interpretation makes no sense. Who is the tragic hero in this tragedy, whose downfall are we asked to witness. Not the two gentiles, but the Jew. In all of Shakespeare's tragedy's we are given motivation and plot for the actions of the flawed character.

From Hamlet to Othello circumstances have combined with their character's shortcomings to bring about their downfall. We invariably are led to some sort of sympathy for these heroes no matter what they end up doing, or what results from their actions.

Why has this never been the result in Merchant of Venice. Why have we always been led to the position of rejoicing at the downfall of Shylock, instead of commiserating with a person who has had his daughter, his possessions and his religion stripped from him? Like so many of us he had been pushed too far by circumstances and events until something finally snapped. Whose to say how you and I would react under the constant pressure of day in and day out persecution and assaults on our dignity.

I believe that until now no has wanted to perform the play as it was meant to be produced. Who would pay to see gentile society depicted as the villain of the piece and Shylock as the flawed hero driven by desperation into a place of madness; where reason has fled to be replaced by the all consuming need for vengeance against the people who "spit upon his Jewish cavity". It is far easier to dismiss the anti Semitism as historically accurate then to put the mirror up our own society's bigotry.

Michael Radford has finally provided us with a Merchant worth watching. He follows the path of most resistance by depicting Shylock as the tragic hero brought down by his flaws. Through establishing the anti Semitism of the times and the characters he makes the ensuing actions of Shylock understandable and believable. It's not because he's a money grubbing Jew that he demands his pound of flesh, it's because he is a man who has been pushed to his limit and beyond. He's beyond reason to the point where he will not even accept twice the amount of money he is owed as replacement of his bond. That is not the behaviour of a man governed by greed, but one who is controlled by other forces.

As we see and hear his plans collapsing around him, as we watch him deflate and hear the vindictive revelling of the gentiles our hearts can not help but go out to him, one more person destroyed by the moral majority for attempting to stand up for himself against overwhelming odds. The self righteous have again conquered and left the outsider lost.

It goes without saying that the performances in this movie are universally brilliant. The British cast of lesser parts are universally more comfortable with the language of Shakespeare then any production I have seen in many a year. The leads, well the leads are nothing short of magnificent.

The performances of Jeremy Irons and Joseph Fiennes are just what I would expect from them, perceptive, intelligent with never a wrong note sounded. But in truth it is the two Americans who are the revelation. Pacino has never been this good before. It is if he has been waiting for this part his whole career and saving up bits of talent so that it could all be invested. He holds nothing back and presents what I think should be the Shylock that everyone remembers. On a par with Oliver's Hamlet it will become a byword for performances for future actors to emulate.

I have never seen or heard of Lynn Collins before, but she is the real thing when it comes to Shakespeare. Her command of the language and its nuances was equal to that of her more renowned male co-stars, and her presence and poise enlivened and energies any scene she participated in.

But in the end it all comes down to Michael Radford's direction and adaptation. It's his eye that takes us through 16th century Venice. From the opulence of the gentile areas, to the gated and confining prison of the ghetto. We are witness to the disparate worlds of the two peoples who make up the films population.

Venice is a cesspool of hypocrisy: wearing the face of morality by day, but dallying with prostitutes by night, preaching tolerance, but only for those like us, asking Shylock to consider mercy for Antonio during the court scene, but then baying for his blood when events turn against him. In this Venice if we are willing to look closely enough we can see ourselves and what our society has done to those on the outside.

Shylock is every poor desperate Muslim manipulated by events and his leaders into a place of no return, we plead with him to desist, but when we get the chance we defile and spit on him with glee. This is a wonderful movie that finally provides justice for a play that has too long been subject to the whims of fashion and bias. Definitely a Merchant worth seeing.

Monologues - Do You Need One?

I wax nostalgic when I remember my first acting classes. It was clear (at least to me), that this is what I wanted to do the rest of my life; portray other people’s lives. Sitting in the dark of an almost vacant house, my acting class watching each student in turn. The inky black proscenium stage with a new coat of paint had a tacky noise as people performed, walking to and fro desperately trying to connect with the audience.

We, as a class, openly discussed which monologues worked and would get you work. It was just a given that you needed one if you wanted to become an actor. So, these many years later from my early days at Tarrant County Junior College, I’ve auditioned for many commercials, films, television, and theatre but I’ve never been asked to perform a monologue.

So, I don’t know if you need one…

This is maybe a little out of line, and I’m oh so ready to duck tomatoes and insults, but if I’ve never been asked to perform a monologue, it just stands to reason that I wouldn’t NEED one, right? You can spend a lot of time reading plays to find a good monologue. More time than all my college research papers put together.

It’s a daunting task, since this brief showcase of your talent has to be short, and pack an emotional punch; it also has to fit you. You need to be able to play the age range, and you’ll want a monologue that plays to your strengths: drama or comedy. So after spending a fair amount of time panning for gold within those monologue books and plays, you then get to spend time perfecting your performance. Memorize and breakdown the part. Practice until your eyes are bloodshot and weary (or I suppose you could just do a little every night, but I can obsess sometimes).

After all this preparation, at the moment of truth, when the iron is hot and I’m ready to strike, I’m denied my moment. I got nervous for nothing. I sure as shit didn’t get nervous looking over the three lines of copy I had to say, copy that invariably references drugs, guns, or boobs. I was shaken by the prospect of screwing up my monologue. I spent a fair amount time with that bit of text. I nurtured it like a child. And now goddamn it, I want to SHOW IT OFF!

Yet, I’ve never been asked to perform a monologue in an audition, nor been allowed to perform (I ask if they would like to see it from time to time). The denial most commonly heard (by me of course, I haven’t really polled fellow actors on this subject), is “that’s not necessary. You already gave us some good stuff”. Some will actually tell the truth. “We just don’t have the time, unfortunately.” I’ve always felt so listless walking from the casting room, handing my bit of copy to another in need or placing it back on the table near the sign in sheet.

I was so ready to bring the funk, but got funk-blocked. Very disconcerting.

It’s not just for film/tv spots, either. I’ve been denied during auditions for playhouses as well. Maybe there are just too many of us actor-guns-for-hire these days. I had this wild notion once, that all monologues should be pre-recorded and then handed in to the casting director with the resume and the hand shake. It helps them streamline their time when they need it, and allows a cursory glance later at the casting director’s convenience. Plus, I don’t have to get nervous in front of anyone when performing. It allows the casting director to shut it off if he/she doesn’t like it. Otherwise, I’d have to see their face while I bomb. But perhaps this Monologue-On-Disk™ idea is too revolutionary to surface just yet.

But you can trust the fact that you definitely don’t need a must-have monologue. It’s a waste of time and energy that never comes to fruition. Although, I do suppose the absence of one could spell curtains for an eager actor. Luck favors the prepared and all that crap.

Acting Resume Debacle

What goes on your resume and in what order? It's a general question that follows the mandate of every talent agent and manager: "You need a resume." You may not realize you need one, depending on your relative newness to the acting field, but while there is a myriad of opposing arguments dictating the structure and content of a resume, the one thing that can't be denied is its necessity.

The task of creating one seems simple enough, but once you've seen the face of a casting director as she scans over your acting history with a cursory amusement or annoyance, well, let's just say it's a little unsettling.

Format is supposedly paramount. The top of the page should have your name, followed by personal statistics about your height and girth, or lack thereof. This is followed or is in tandem with your agent's contact information. Obviously, if you have no agent, you will want to place your contact info.

Following that, should be three sections: Film, Commercial, and Theatre (in that order). This is the body of your work that shows your personal prowess in your chosen field of "acting". This middle, meaty section is followed by a brief history of your acting studies, as well as personal abilities or accolades.

Strangely enough, this all seems fairly worthless nowadays. Most people are cast to type, with very little regard to acting ability. "Casting to Type" means hiring someone based on their looks and the archetype of the character in question. I state this as fact, and, before objecting to my cynicism, think back and try to remember all the movies that oozed weak/horrid acting in A-List productions (although some of this is bad directing as well).

My prime example, for the longest time, was Keanu Reeves. His first movie being "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," for which he was perfectly suited. There are many more examples that can be stated, but this is counter-productive. Sufficed to say that I use this merely to illustrate the Catch-22 regarding an actor's resume.

My question is simply this: Why must an actor's resume follow a specific structure if the structure no longer works?

When applying for a "real job," as my friends like to say, the first thing on your business resume is your most current employer or past job. The reasoning is that it pertains the most to the job currently being applied for. This includes contact info to allow the future boss to pick the brain of your past employer to verify your likely effectiveness within said work environment.

With acting, it's not the same. A new employer would never contact an old one, and even if they did, no one would know information that would have any relevance to the role you're currently auditioning for. The format of your resume itself is rife with worthless bits of information. Commercials are never listed, but always referred to as "available upon request" (although no one ever requests them), and under Film, I've heard sage wisdom to support listing no Background gigs, or listing only a few Background gigs, even if background work is the bulk of the actor's experience. Theatre seems almost completely pointless when auditioning for a film/commercial gig, and vice versa.

So why is the mandatory structure? If the resume has so many moments when it's ineffective in the hiring process, why is its placement and structure argued over between actors, agents, and managers? I liken it to our constitution in many ways: it made sense when referring to the populous of the 1700's, but it connects less and less with todays Americans... times have changed. Don't get me wrong the resume has been adapted over time, too, but it's nothing more than a checklist that shows the actor knows the folklore and respects it, thereby making that actor eligible for the role.

So, what is the resume then? If it only plays a minor part in garnering the actor an audition, what is its purpose and why is it required? Because we as thespians are a dime a dozen. Despite whichever acting school you may have attended, you still have the same genetic make up as your competitors, and though someone is method or another classically trained, if the actor can portray realism with respect to the part in question, then who's to say? It's a toss up. Considering the volume of submissions received when a production company holds auditions, it's no wonder the system of a resume has become less important. Production companies need to spend more time shooting and in post-production (due to more and more special effects and digital requirements for future media), and less time in pre-production.

I have the compounding problem that I also went to film school and know how to work behind the camera. I have been told that acting and crewing resumes should NEVER be mixed-- it just isn't done. I've been behind the table watching my fellow thespians give it their all, or what little they can muster, for the part we've offered for our independent shoots, and the pattern emerges quite innocuously: look at the headshot, flip and scan resume for the acronyms SAG or AFTRA, and then move on. Actors get sifted into piles of "Hopefuls" and "Not-This-Times". I'm embarrassed to admit my own guilt in this matter.

The resume and headshot is a letter of introduction, and a reminder once the actor has left the audition. That's all. I've never had a casting director remember anything I was ever in from meeting to meeting, and I've never been asked to perform a monologue, the mantra of every acting school/class I've ever attended (although, that is a topic for later discussion).

So, for those of you that are getting a multitude of auditions, congratulations and don't change a thing. For the rest of you that are not so fortunate, take time and rethink how your resume presents you. Finally, don't give up on your dream, and be respectfully persistent.

Using the Right Headshots

Right now, if you go to any alley in Hollywood and peer into any dumpster, there's a good chance you'll see stacks of discarded headshots. You'll see thousands of 8x10 color and black-and-white photos of people looking their finest, all smiles, wearing their Sunday Best. There's something sad about seeing so many hopeful faces laying at the bottom of a giant trash can.

Every actor finds himself down there most of the time. It's simply a matter of numbers. However, there are ways of minimizing your dumpster time, of making that picky casting director look twice at your photo before so quickly tossing you away.

First, let's establish one simple fact: Every actor needs a headshot. If you're an actor, and you don't have a headshot, go out and get some made the moment you finish reading this post. Just as important, if not more so, is an acting reel, but that takes time. You must appear in several different projects before you can piece together a decent reel. Headshots, however, can be shot and printed the day you arrive in Tinseltown. In a tight situation, you can even shoot them yourself.

Let's break it down. When it comes to headshots, there are three schools of thought...

First, there's the very popular GRAB-YOUR-ATTENTION METHOD, where actors dress up in funny costumes and sexy outfits, and are shown doing something crazy, abstract, or just startling. I've seen actors wearing fishnet bodysuits with nothing underneath, actresses holding live chickens, and old men dressed as gangster rappers. The idea goes with the belief that there is No Such Thing As Bad Publicity, which in itself is another debate (for another post).

Despite its popularity and fun factor, I personally discourage this method. If you take a photo of yourself with a goose on your head, you're essentially telling the world that you're willing to do anything for the part. This is the wrong impression to make. It's already a given that you want the part. Every actor submitting a headshot wants the part.

"But I want to show I'll do anything!" you may be saying. "I want them to know that I want it more than anyone else!"

Stop kidding yourself. It's irrelevant how bad you want the part. If you get hired, it will be for your talent, for your appearance, or for your personality. Not once has any filmmaker or casting director ever given a part to an undeserving or untalented actor simply because they wanted it badly. This method just makes you look desperate, which is the opposite of confidence, and as we've discussed before, confidence is the key.

Next comes the MANY-OUTFITS TECHNIQUE. An actor will have numerous photos taken of him, each in a different costume: police officer, chef, CEO, farmer, thug, etc. This is the most elaborate and expensive route to go. There's the cost of renting the costumes, the fee for the photographer, and the higher number of prints you'll need to order, which you'll most likely want in color. But there is method to this madness.

The idea is to get ten or so different looks for you, personas you'd feel comfortable playing. When a role for a street criminal is open, you submit your Thug headshot. When a role for a corporate businessman opens, you submit your CEO headshot. Sounds logical, but does it work?

It actually can. Look at it like this: when one of these aforementioned roles opens, the project's casting director and his assistant pour through hundreds, often thousands of headshots. They go through them like lightning at first, then with more scrutiny as they narrow down the field. As they sift through the countless headshots, they're thinking "Street Criminal," suddenly -BOOM- there you are, already dressed the part. It won't guarantee you the role (only your talent will), but it will guarantee you will be included when they narrow down their selection. I know of several actors that have gotten consistent work this way.

The third strategy for headshots, the simplest one and the one I recommend, is to take 2-3 photos of you in your NATURAL STATE. There's a cliche that says to "just be yourself," and it's true. This doesn't mean to take snapshots of you watching TV or cleaning out your garage. Basically, the photo needs to look like you.

Your choice of clothing should look like something you'd wear. Your facial expression should not betray how you'd normally look. Your makeup should not entirely transform you (no glamour shots!) Yes, you should appear neat and clean and attractive, but it needs to show your essence. That is, after all, what you're going to seal the deal with during the audition.

If you've gained or lost considerable weight since your last headshot, get new a one. If you've lost or grew some hair since your last headshot, get a new one. Do not misrepresent yourself. It's a waste of everyone's time (including yours).

One last thing to mention is the back of the headshot, which contains your resume. No matter how you look on the front, if the back is lacking, you ain't getting that call. Get out there and get some work done. Short films. Student films. Local theatre. Acting classes. Workshops. Open mics. In L.A., there's endless opportunities for actors to keep their tools sharp everyday, while at the same time building their reel and resume.

To sum up, when it comes to getting headshots, remember that the idea is simply to sell you as your are. There's no secret. It really is that simple. Of course, you're an actor, and you want to show that you can fit in many roles, but save that for the audition.

Let them call you in because they like how you naturally look and come across in a photo. Let them think they might be able to mold you to the role and fit you into the story. Then come to the audition and seal the deal by proving them right.

Raised in Hawaii, Dawn Akemi lived in Washington DC, Seattle, and Minneapolis before settling in Los Angeles. Her career path includes Certified Public Accountant, Sales, Chef, Artist, and, most beloved, Acting. She has been acting for over a decade on stages in Minneapolis and L.A., including The Cast, The Interact Theater, The Raven Playhouse, and Art/Works Theatre, with experience ranging from experimental and physical to classical and comedy.

Her film credits include Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God. Dawn is a big believer in ongoing actor training and has studied Meisner, Method, Improvisation, Grotowski, Chekhov, Suzuki, Viewpoints, Voice, Movement and Dance. When Dawn is not ardently pursuing craft and career, she loves to cook, design jewelry, and knit.

CloseUp: Harrison Brown

Harrison Brown is a filmmaker, improviser, and sketch comedian in Los Angeles. Harrison began doing comedy and improv in high school and created the popular cable access comedy/variety show called Road Closed. He has been studying and performing at the Upright Citizen Brigade Theatre since the Los Angeles theatre opened. He can currently been seen on the UCB Harold team, MacGuffin and on a UCB Maude team. Harrison is also a frequent performer and writer for Sketch Cram!

Harrison is currently in post production for the independent film The Treasure of Big Bear Mountain, in which he acted, co-directed, and co-edited with Justin Donaldson. The film is completely improvised with UCB performers. Harrison has also written several feature length screenplays. His work has been shown at film festivals across the country.

Harrison is also currently a videographer and editor for UCBComedy.com.

Tips To Protect Your Child Actor

Getting your child into the acting business can be lots of fun for both you and your child. As your child gains more and more fame, it will become more and more apparent that you need to protect their welfare. It's a crazy world out there, and even young children can acquire rabid fans and stalkers.

Here are some tips to help protect your blooming star: Most of these items involve common sense, but you will be surprised how easily they are forgotten when your child has a chance at stardom.

Keep your wits about you and remember your number one priority is the welfare of your child, not booking the part. Don't look for agents in the mall. If you get a flyer asking you to bring your child to the mall to meet with a talent manager, run the other way. Many of these companies make their money by charging outrageous fees for photographers and showcases. They thrive on signing hundreds of kids, hoping one of them happens to make it big.

Do your research. Never stop learning about the entertainment business. Read books on child actors, auditioning, acting technique, and biographies of former and current child stars. Attend workshops and seminars in your area. Stop using your child's social security number on their resume. It use to be commonplace to use a social security number on a resume so producers, directors and casting directors could refer to you as a number when you went in for an audition. This is no longer the case. When your child signs in for an audition, there will be a spot for their SAG number. If they are not in the Screen Actors Guild, leave the box empty or ask the receptionist if they can use another number.

Change your phone number. Once your phone number is listed, it will remain in online directories and even print directories for a long time. Simply changing it to be unlisted will not stop people from finding it out and calling you at home. Obtain a new number and keep it unlisted. Check your child's fan mail carefully. Once your child has appeared on a TV show or in a movie, they will start to get fan letters. While this may seem neat at first, you must be careful when allowing your child to read the letters that come in. Look over the envelopes carefully and note strange addresses. Letters from prisons oftentimes are marked "Inmate Mail" or may have a strange address that looks like a P.O. box.

Avoid leaving comments on fan web sites. While at first it may seem cool to see a web site dedicated to your child, avoid contacting the maker of the site or leaving feedback in a guestbook or forum. Your computer information can be tracked fairly easily, allowing them to get even more personal information.

Take your own digital cards to your photographer. When it is time to get your child's photographs done for their portfolio or comp card, ask if you can bring your own digital card for the camera. If the photographer still shoots on film, make sure that their session fee includes giving the negatives to you. By protecting the raw images of your child, you will help prevent their likeness from showing up on online auction sites tomorrow or in years to come.

Audit an acting class. Instead of shelling out the full fee for an acting class ask the instructor if your child can audit their class. Most will say yes. You should be skeptical about those who will not allow your child, and a parent, to sit in on a class or two. Provide a support structure for your child.

During the course of your child's career, they will be turned down many times for different reasons. It is important to have both internal and external support mechanisms for your child to turn to when they need to talk or vent their frustrations. Register your child's name as a web site domain name.

As soon as your child books that new commercial, TV show or movie, register your child's name as a "dot com" immediately so nobody else can steal it out from under you. Registration services are under $10/year at most places, so it will be a cheap investment in your child's safety.
